GOLF - Giving Others Loving Fellowship
I have been stating here on Kingdom.golf and with my friends, family and confidants who are Christ-Followers that the call of Kingdom.golf is to Give the Gospel thru Golf. Wally Armstrong, Ron Potter and a few others that have been in ministry using the platform of golf say they want "every golfer to hear the Gospel" or "we want to help win a million golfers to Christ." We agree!
Is the vision legitimate?
Yes, of course. The Lord calls each of us as committed followers of Jesus Christ to "19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
And in John 4 in the middle of the story of the woman at the well, Jesus proclaims, firstly, that His food or his sustenance is to do the Father's will by "finish(ing) His work". He identifies that work by referring to the fields being ready for harvest or ushering souls into the Kingdom; "I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest." John 4:35.
The fields of golfers are ready for the harvest. This is what I believe the message is and has been for decades.
How do we do this, then?
There are so many wonderful men and women Christ followers who have an affinity for "our sport" as the broadcasters are now saying. We have individuals who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ throughout the world who have an affinity or passion for golf. This passion was placed in them by God as we all know. They are drawn to apply this passion toward playing golf, teaching golf, participating in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Golf (FCA Golf), College Golf Fellowship (CGF), Links Players Ministry, Youth with a Mission, Golf (YWAM or gDTS), with the Challenge Golf Association (CGA) and In His Grip ministry, as Professional Golf Association (PGA) members, as PGA Touring Professionals and/or as layman or, even, chaplains within the sport. The Lord has sprinkled workers for the Kingdom throughout the world of golf. The workers are few, yet not as few as we may think. The fields are ripe for the harvest.
