Oh, Man, What a Blessing - Golfing to Greatness

Golf as a platform for ministry is well and ongoing.

You can see that we are not very regular in posting to this HisKingdom.golf site.

Why?

Because our focus has been toward discipleship and reaching out to the body of Christ through the http://www.golfingtogreatness.com and http://www.golffromtheheart.golf sites.

HisKingdom.golf was started during the 2014 US Open at Pinehurst and continued up until about a year or so ago when the next iteration of "Giving the Gospel through Golf" thru the member oriented community site, golffromtheheart.golf was conceived. This site is still very alive and gathering information on golfers who are Believers and guiding them into a community that demographically mimics their own group. The entire process of the current sites point toward building community in order for Believers to gather online as well as at the golf course to encourage and guide each other.

That leads us into the purpose behind "Golfing to Greatness".  As I engaged with the leaders of many of the golf ministries I believe the Lord guided me to engage with throughout the years, the need was evident that Discipleship training was needed desperately! Thus Golfing to Greatness came into being. Discipleship is a call of the Lord and is evident when we read Matthew 28:19-20 where Jesus says;  "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations..." where "nations" means "people". We are commanded to "Make Disciples"; followers of Jesus Christ. That is what Golfing to Greatness is for.

Go to Golfing to Greatness and review what discipleship is.... I believe that by engaging with men between the ages of 22 - 60 who are passionate about golf and love or are seeking Jesus. By discipling those men we will have leaders that can engage with other golfers in their lives in order to place their golfing passion in line with the Lord's calling for our Kingdom work.

Let's Conduct a Symposium on Golf As Ministry - Again, Really!??

Picture
We know that we are to be one as the church, in Christ ...

Jesus Prays for All Believers
20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. (John 17:20-23)
We know that there are numerous Believers and ministries called to give the Gospel through golf...
-Links Players International
-College Golf Fellowship
-Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Golf
-PGA Tour Study & Chaplain
-LPGA Tour Study & Chaplain
-Web.com Tour Study & Chaplain
-Symmetra Tour Study & Chaplain
-YWAM DTSgolf
-Sports Spectrum
-Challenge Golf Association
-In His Grip Ministries
-PGA Professional Believers

... and many more, I pray we will discover through this unification effort.
We believe at HisKingdom.golf & Golf From the Heart that we are called to make an effort to bring these ministries together in unity in order that the world will know that God sent Jesus Christ.
What format will this effort take?

1. To communicate in order to become familiar with each other, each other's mission and each other's vision for the future.

2. To become familiar with each other's activities for the 2017 golf season and beyond in order to share opportunities and resources.

3. To determine how best to support each other.

4. To share common concerns for privacy and best practices for outreach ministry.

5. To determine the best ways to promote the activities of each.

6. To explore ways to fulfill the calling of God on ministry in the world of golf.
What's next??

The date & time has not been set for our third online Symposium, but we're looking to the beginning of December 2018 and will be sending out a survey soon. One can participate by emailing bill@hiskingdom.golf, calling or texting to 774-212-2265.

Hopefully, discussions will take place prior to the Symposium between participants or principles from each ministry identified above as well as others that may be called to similar ministerial activities.

Again, email, text or call.

Please inform others that you know about this upcoming Symposium and ask them to contact us for inclusion.

Thank you...

What's HisKingdom.golf and Golf From the Heart been up to?

What have we been doing since the end of this past year?  Well, we have moved our focus from www.HisKingdom.golf to www.GolfFromtheHeart.golf.

You can read about Golf From the Heart by clicking here.

Most of our efforts have been outward as we spent a significant amount of time in the early part of the year engaging with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Golf program headed by Jim Esary.  We attended the Waste Management Open and the FCA Gameday featuring Kevin Streelman.  We also attended the Tales from the Tour program conducted by Links Ministry and hosted by Lewis Greer.  We were able to experience these ministries in action and, especially with the FCA Golf, identify a strategy that may be employed for us to assist them in their mission for 2019.  We'll see.

Our next focus was with a group of dedicated men and women focused on discipleship of golf pros throughout the world.  We attended a conference and experienced what a focused discipleship week could look like when we're able to gather a group of committed Christians gifted to make disciples.  It was incredibly enlivening and, as you would imagine got the creative juices going on our part to implement and to use the Internet and social media to assist and expand a ministry of this type.  More coming on that.

Lastly, for now, we have been invited by Wally Armstrong of WallyMade Golf, Snag and many, many other golf instruction efforts to assist him in his latest program to teach golf to children and families; Go - Start - Golf.
Picture
Go Start Golf is an amazing game and learning tool for the game of golf and life.  We will be assisting Wally with the introduction of the game to churches throughout the country at the REACHgathering in Asheville, NC this week, April 23 - 25th.

Wally's efforts throughout the years have mirrored the vision we have expressed in our HisKingdom.golf vision and expressed here;

(I, personally, believe the capability exists for a young golfer when he/she picks up a club, into middle school and high school golf teams through FCA Golf to hear the Gospel and be mentored....) read more by clicking on the stroy.

Hopefully, we will be able to coordinate and arrange WallyMade and coordinate with many others to "give the Gospel thru golf" and "Give Others Loving Fellowship".

Thanks

Giving Others Loving Fellowship - How?

How are we going to Give Others Loving Fellowship?

During this 2017 Masters, we wanted to identify our objectives again.

We have stated before that we believe there is an opportunity for every golfer who ever picks up a golf club to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ, participate in a program that introduces them to Christ and/or programs and individuals that could mentor or disciple every golfer that the Lord calls. (Click below)

(I, personally, believe the capability exists for a young golfer when he/she picks up a club, into middle school and high school golf teams through FCA Golf to hear the Gospel and be mentored....)

But how will they know if they have not heard?  The Apostle Paul in Romans 10 speaks about God's plan for the Israelite's.  He speaks of how some believed Christ, but many have rejected Him after He was among them as a fulfillment of prophesy, but, he speaks about "How" will they believe if they have not heard and how will they hear without someone preaching to them and, finally, "how can anyone preach unless they are sent?"  We have the workers, they are or can be motivated to preach or testify of what the Lord has done for them.  The fields are ripe for the harvest, so let's get the workers and the fields together so that they will hear.

The challenge is cooperation and communication as well as a methodology to lovingly introduce golfers to a relationship with Jesus.

I believe we need to continue to equip and encourage the Christ Followers in each of the existing ministries.  We need to increase the promotion of those individuals in their ministries and tell the stories of the 'harvesting' that is going on.  I believe we also must make a way to conduct Christian outreach messaging and fellowship during certain events in the golf calendar to reach out to the "fields".

Can we ignite a group of Believers who Have a Passion for golf to "Tell Their Story" at the 2018 Masters?

Picture
Thus the reason for Giving Others Loving Fellowship (GOLF).  My recent experience at the Masters revealed an opportunity to coordinate a GOLF program at each golf tournament where the conditions were just right to coordinate and conduct a GOLF program.  The best experience during the Masters relative to a faith in Christ outreach came as I was walking along the fairways of Augusta National or, actually, standing in various spots at the tournament.  I was wearing my FCA hat and, in my own inimitable way engaged people in conversation.  When asked where I was from or what was I doing at the tournament, I was very open and frank about being called to introduce golfers to Jesus Christ after growing to know Him myself and what He had done in my life.  These simple engagements created a response from the few I spoke with that was comfortable and engaging.  I did not go into detail, but, if I had a card or a bracelet, thumb drive or a booklet of some type I could hand to them, they would have been introduced to Jesus all the more.  Additionally, I had several other encounters with Believers or former/current pastors who were intrigued and excited about being able to share their faith stories with me and glad to hear more about how to conduct an outreach in the future.

Can we ignite a group of Believers who have a passion for golf to "Tell Their Story" at the Masters in 2018 and equip and guide them as they enjoy and observe golf tournaments throughout the world?  Of course we can.

Of particular interest were two areas for support and guidance.

Picture
Churches in Augusta;

Warren Baptist Church traditionally conducts the FCA Breakfast during Masters week with some 1000+ in attendance and the Warren Golf Association which builds relationships with golfers in the area for fellowship and spiritual growth.

Whole Life Ministries is just across Washington Road from Augusta National and was simply reaching out to the "patrons" during the week with refreshments   I visited their offices felt an immediate connection as I shared how an outreach program might be conducted during the Masters 2016.

Several other churches in the area.  There is little doubt in my mind that some 10 plus churches could cooperate on a "GOLF" type fellowship.

Inside and around the Masters.  We played golf in South Carolina and the first person I met was Forest who is a retired pastor from Augusta.  He said he would love to participate in an outreach. The men I was with celebrating the Masters were from Wilmington DE representing a small group of Believers who fellowship around golf.  They're connections through hospitality providers in Augusta also expressed an interest in outreach during the Masters.

What would the focus and ultimate objective be for a Masters 2016 GOLF Outreach as well as other professional golf venues; PGA Tour, Champions Tour, LPGA Tour, Web.com Tour, Symmetra Tour and, eventually, the European men's and women's Tours?

Well, we'll see if we can get our other connections in the golf world to buy in.....

Yeah, it's been awhile since we've posted in HisKingdom.golf, but, we've been pretty busy building Golf From the Heart (GFtH), L3C (www.GolfFromtheHeart.golf).  And, we did!!

We promised back a bit that we would be transitioning to this new focus for our ministry.  Our goal through HisKingdom.golf and enews.hiskingdom.golf/*/ was to publish information on the game of golf and the many ministries using golf as a platform through this website and the enewsletter. The hope was that many people would find us through the social media posts and that has happened to a degree.

GolfFromtheHeart.golf is a site and marketing vehicle that will draw Believers who play golf as well as seekers of faith in Christ to "grow the game of golf and game of life" for those visitors.

We then discovered that there was more of a need than just promotion, but, there was a need to assist each of these ministries in golf as well.  GolfFromtheHeart.golf is a site and marketing vehicle that will draw Believers who play golf as well as seekers of faith in Christ to "grow the game of golf and game of life" for those visitors.  We have a full pitch for this located here and a business plan that has been set in motion to honor the Lord and promote the Kingdom fellowship through golf.

Will we continue to post here?  Yes!

Will we continue to produce the Enews.HisKingdom.golf/*/?  Yes!

But, we will continue to build out the Golf From the Heart (GFtH), L3C in order to assist those golf ministries in recruiting folks that they desire to minister to and to grow the number of golfers that can become aware of the golf ministries out there and engage with them in fellowship.

What would a Tour Players Outreach Ministry ministerial tool look like?

First, obviously, it would be an accessible resource for all believers and those seeking belief in Christ, as the fellowship travels and grows throughout the entire year in 2018.

In John 17 Christ speaks about Unity. "23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me."

So why can't we have unity in the various fellowships on the professional golf Tours throughout the country if not throughout the world?

Golf From the Heart, L3C along with the chaplains on the many professional golf tours can join together in order to prepare a concise and comprehensive guide to fellowship and growth in the knowledge of God throughout the 2018 golf year. This initiative consists of weekly studies, a reading list, Fellowship times and speakers, pastors and presenters as well as events that will foster and improve the Christian maturity of Believers and be attractive to those seeking Christ in order for us to build & grow the unity of the fellowship.

In John 17 Christ speaks about Unity

Picture
Golf from the heart, L3C, (for description of an L3C, click here) will provide the online tools to foster community and subgroups within that community in order for them to communicate, study, annotate and communicate the needs desires and growth of the specific community.

As an example; let's take the, potential, Web.com Tour and it's Christian Fellowship.  A quarterly program is developed to present to the players a consistent focus on Bible study subjects. This program is presented on a weekly basis within the Web.com Tour community site contained inside of (the future) www.golffromtheheart.golf/WebdotcomTour.

The Golf Community is a membership-only, invitation-only website at which each participant has their member profile. The group has its own community interaction through video, audio and other media for interaction by the individual member. Reading, taking notes and posting information and thoughts, some of which may be accessible to the rest of the community. The teaching for the week would be presented at the beginning of the week and each member would be able to read and view all of the content within the membership community. Each member would be able to interact, send messages or questions and even post video of their own thoughts and inspirations after reading or participating in the fellowship. Each week, of course, the group would meet at the next golf tour location and each member would have already received and participated in the discussion in the subject matter for that week. In fact, the session on Tour could be Facebook Live(ed) to those not being able to participate physically in order for them to, also, view, interact and participate in the study.  This would enable a continuous engagement between members of the community.

This format provides a more comprehensive opportunity for individuals in the group to participate, to invite others to participate; those who may not be members but are seeking and are invited by other members in order to participate or view the fellowship online.

This is a picture of the type of community GolfFromtheHeart.golf will provide for ministry with a golf platform.
