Browsing for Content - Kingdom.golf - Ben Crane & Sports Spectrum

This is a great video of Ben Crane of the PGA Tour and a leader, in my opinion, in the Tour Christian Fellowship.

I am in the process of formulating what Kingdom.golf will look like this coming year and have been searching and evaluating online content from many sources.  The video above was taken by Sports Spectrum magazine and posted on their YouTube Channel. Great stuff!!

I have found many other video and content sources for use in our online content marketing "magazine" for lack of a better term and hope to produce a daily online content program that can draw visitors to our Kingdom.golf website and join in on the conversation.

Sorry to wet your whistle with little facts or content, but, thanks for coming and we'll continue to grow and inform.

Thanks for visiting.

Latest PGA Tour video update posted.... TOUR Championship Final

It certainly came out the way most believed or hoped it would; Billy Horschel winning it all.

He was 'rock-solid' for the last two+ weeks and he deserved to win it all.  That's alot a cash; $14 Million, alot a cash!

I personally observed how he rocketed into confidence over the past month and the comeback from that "chubby" shot on 18 at the Deutsche Bank shows amazing resiliency and mental toughness.  As Johnny Miller said at the presentation ceremony last  night; "He's the real deal."  I believe with Johnny that he could be a star over the next 4 or 5 years barring injury.

Anyway, it was a joy to watch the last few weeks how the drama unfolded and the quality of golf and competition was incredible.  I really enjoyed watching.  But, now we have a week plus to get ready for the Ryder Cup.  Interesting how some of the pundits are questioning whether the hottest players on the US Tour may have been left out of the mix, but, the steady and an uber-competitive Europeans have a stacked deck to, possibly, trounce the Americans.  We'll see won't we.

Being the Christian golf guy, I think I heard Billy say, "amen" when addressed at the interview.  That's a term that can be used loosely these days, but, I'm pretty sure I heard it.  A quick search of the Internet found no references to Billy's faith.  So, whatever.

No judgement, just an observation.  I sure enjoy watching him play golf.

Here's a great video highlighting Billy's workout regimen.  Whew!!!

What's Open Doors Purpose - Payne Stewart - Video

6/1/2014

In 1999 Payne Stewart won the U.S. Open against Phil Mickelson in a dramatic duel on Pinehurst #2.

Those of us that are old enough to have seen it in person were emotionally impacted when a newly matured Payne Stewart responded to his win by immediately heading over to his opponent and grabbed his face in two hands to express himself to Phil at that moment as a father.  You see Phil and his wife Ami were expecting  a child to be born any moment and Phil, earlier in the week, had made it clear that when he got the call, he would abandon his attempt to win his first U.S. Open and rush home to support his wife and baby.

What many may have missed at that emotional and exhilarating moment for Payne and Phil was what was quite obvious to me and many others of us who are Believers in Jesus Christ.  On Payne's wrist is a black wristband with the inscription WWJD which we know stands for "What Would Jesus Do?"  It was at that moment that I, personally, knew what the real story was and I wanted to discover the back story.  Well, I found it back then and just now was reminded of it when searching and finding the Art Stricklin Sports Spectrum article from March 2000

Excerpts;

"To understand golfer Payne Stewart—the most public of sports figures, who died the most public of deaths last October—you have to look deeper to see what changed him over the last 18 months of his life. And the best way to do that is through the eyes of his friends and colleagues."

“I knew him when he was the perfect Frat Rat,” Ogrin says. “I played against him for three years and knew he was a genuine hard worker. At times he could be a genuine pain in the neck, but we all knew he was a genuine champion. When he talked to you, he was genuinely interested in what you had to say.”

But Ogrin, like Stewart’s many close friends, including golfer Paul Azinger, sports agent Robert Fraley, and baseball pitcher Orel Hershiser, came to see a genuine difference in the once egotistical and often sarcastic golfer.

“In the last couple of years, Payne became a genuine Christian. He had earned everything a man could earn on his own in the golf world and found that it wasn’t enough,” Ogrin adds. “To understand what finished out the man and the grasp that it held on him, you have to see what Jesus has to offer and the place He played in Payne’s life.”

The difference, according to PGA Tour chaplain Larry Moody, was that Stewart went from having a religion he could fall back on if needed, to a personal relationship with Jesus, which carried him through the highs and lows of his final months in this bunker we call “earth.”

“God used a little bit of everybody in Payne’s life,” says First Baptist associate pastor J.B. Collingsworth. “Larry Moody and Paul Azinger were factors, his kids brought it home to him daily, and he came to First Baptist Orlando, where he joined the men’s Bible study and learned many things here.”

Early in the 1999 golf season, Aaron gave his dad his WWJD bracelet, which stands for “What Would Jesus Do?” The 10-year-old proved wise beyond his years when he challenged Dad to come out of the closet and let others know about his private commitment to Christ.

Moody was one of the first to hear from Payne about his bold commitment when he encountered him on the practice range at the Shell Houston Hope in April. Seeing Stewart wearing the bracelet, Moody asked for some background information and listened as Stewart told him that God had truly changed his mind, body, and spirit.

“In the last year, I knew Payne was committed to God, but in Houston was when I found he was unashamed publicly of his commitment,” Moody says.

The rest of the sports world caught on a few months later when Stewart conquered the demanding Pinehurst No. 2 layout to win his second US Open title, capping the victory with a bracelet-encircled fist thrust into the air on the 18th green.

That photo and Stewart’s spoken, public commitment were played around the world the following day as his path from carnal, clutter-filled darkness to peaceful life became clear......

I wish I had thought of it back then, but, it just came to me, that we should have made a WWJD bracelet just like Payne's to commemorate him, his faith in Jesus Christ and the incredible impact Payne's life had on so many.  But, I didn't think of it, yet we've come up with our own bracelet as seen here.

YOU can participate with us in celebrating Christ, Payne's life and our outreach to the visitors to the 2014 U.S. Open at Pinehurst.  Please click here and/or on the graphic and sign up for your very own Open Doors wristband.

While Kaymer and Speith and Segio fight out the Players Championship today, we want to highlight our Christian Tour Players who might have an outside chance of taking the trophy this afternoon.

Stewart Cink and Bubba stand at -5 after Stewart shot his third straight 70 and Bubba stands in the best position on the final day that he has ever had before at the TPC.  These fellas have the best chance to move up the leaderboard and take the title, but, it will take a herculean effort as they are seven shots behind the leaders.

Webb Simpson - US Open Champion; Our Champion

5/3/2014

What year did Webb Simpson win the U.S. Open?

Why would I say Webb Simpson is our champion?

Because he is!!  He is a man that, admittedly, is a Christ Follower and professes his life complete because he knows Christ and through Him, his life is complete.

This is the kind of champion we want to follow.  Why, because any man or woman who has lived life and wrestled with the challenges of life and seen how our faith in Jesus Christ is the basis of "life to the full" is someone that should be followed and paid attention to.

Yes, we know; "He's a golfer for goodness sake."  We understand the comment, but, wouldn't we expect character, honesty, right-decisions and leadership from every corner of our country, so why not focus on a US Open Champion and follow him as a leader, highly character-ed individual, professional, husband, father, parishioner and, oh by the way, PGA Tour Player?  I choose to follow Jesus and I choose to pay attention to our champion from the US Open in 2012, Webb Simpson.

Whoops, gave it away didn't I.

Here is a wonderful story written about Webb after his 2012 U.S. Open victory..... gotta read this!!!

Well, check this out.... I'm sure the majority of  you are very familiar with this online golf game, but, I found the "Virtual U.S. Open 2014"!!

I registered on the site and walked through the guidance of none other than David Leadbetter and now, I'm getting ready to take to Pinehurst #2 and play my U.S. Open practice round (at least I hope it's practice)!!  Let's follow through on this and see if it might turn into something of a challenge we can work through leading up to the Open and enjoy meeting and playing against each other??

Picture
Oh, my goodness, look at this!! They already have a tournament series setup for the U.S. Open with prizes!  This is gonna be good.

Ok, so, I'm signed up for my first Championship Event, the Pinehurst #2 U.S. Open Front 9 Challenge...... well, a bit confusing (probably because I didn't read all of the instructions), but, when I realized I was playing a "challenge" on each of the first 9 holes of Pinehurst #2, It became quite interesting...  Alright on #3 I won closest to the hole!!  Against whom I have no idea, but, I bet I get it better soon....

Picture
So, this is how they're scoring; looking at Total, you can see I didn't do exceptionally well on hole #1 & #2, but got it together on #3 & #4 and reduced my scoring.... let's keep on playin'.(notice the smart branding and hat purchasing offer, brilliant!)

Woo hoo, look at this shot on #9..... how about that.... lol!!!
Cllck here and watch the replay!
Picture
Alright, first shot at it, +35 higher than the leaders, but, I understand that we may get unlimited attempts at the challenge to win the prizes.

So check it out, it was fun....
