Half-way through the Season

Alright, golf season preparation for 2016 better be well under way, because we just passed the mid-point of the 2016 golf season, right??

Really, look at the calendar; if we consider the Masters the beginning of the season and the Tour Championship in September the end of the season..... it's about the mid-point of the competitive season.  Ok, so I stretched it a bit to make a point.  Assess me two strokes or a moved ball penalty ..... whatever.

So, our schedule is in full bloom and what has happened on the Tour(s) and what's goin' on with HisKingdom.golf (if you're interested)

Of primary focus today is D Johnson winning the 2016 US Open.  Congratulations to him and his family.  Quite a confounding story, honestly, and we should all practice grace and mercy regarding criticism and judgement.  It is, however quite confounding.

Bernhard Langer has simply destroyed, buried and left all contenders in the dust on the PGA Tour Champions as they call it now.

We have a new youngster phenom on the LPGA Tour. Brooke Henderson you say?  Yeah, true, but what about Ariya Jutanugarn, from Thailand who went on a rampage for three weeks and not only captured her first win, but, three in a row. Oh, Henderson won her 2nd LPGA Tour victory as well. ha!

.... and there are more professional golf tours springing up around he world, so it's tough to keep up with it. isn't it?

HisKingdom.golf has entered into a new phase.  In our Vision/Mission Statement, we have identified how we want to promote all things about ministry that use golf as a platform, so, we have begun our own "Platform" with our HisKingdom.golf eNews that we are producing five or six times each tournament week.  You can sign up to receive the eNews once you visit.  Please do as we try to expand our readership.
So, what's next?

We plan to continue our instructional series from preparation for the 2016 golf season into, performance in the 2016 golf season.  We will highlight our own games and the improvement in them as well as small, medium and, alright, no major competitions that we may be engaged in to determine how our game preparation has gone and what it has produced.

Thanks for visiting. Please subscribe to our eNews when you get a chance.

Preparation for the 2016 Golf Season - Continued5

Hello, it's here, what?  The 2016 Golf Season.

So, how'd our preparation go?

Well, to continue with our theme on how to become an 80's shooter and ... better, we hafta get back at it and share what we have found through May 31st of this year.

I, personally, have worked and worked at it. I practiced (get it) what I preached in this series. I bought the $120 range ball ticket at my local golf course.  I worked on my swing.  I visited my swing coach (they're coaches now, not instructors, ha).  I payed the $60 to be told how I hafta work on using my arms and hands from the top of my swing through impact and keeping my hands close to my body. I worked on that and worked on that and, you guessed it, worked on that.  I have seen results!!  I have, now, used up all of my practice buckets from my $120 investment, am looking to schedule my next $60 lesson and keep working.

I have played once a week and practiced my long game almost every day since our last posting in preparation for the 2016 Golf Season.  I have worked on my short game almost every day as well.  I chose to abandon the traditional putter to go with the medium-long un-anchored putter and have had much more success than my tedious hours of trying to return to the traditional putting stroke.  I JUST COULDN'T DO IT, PERIOD.  My chipping is a combination of one-handed close-in chips (yup, sorry) to the traditional pitching and chipping from longer short-game shots.  I have improved immeasurably and continue to do so as I have rekindled my love of short-game practice to my wife's chagrin.

I have improved my scoring on average to where I average about 10-over for an 18-hole round when I averaged about 15-over when I began in preparation for the 2016 Golf Season.  Not bad, but, here's the difference and challenge; What about when I hafta compete and the score means something??  Well, I have had various results and on average I add about 4 shots to my competitive rounds.  So, in competition I average about 14-over par. That's 86, yeah, 86.

Yuck, you say!!  Yeah, I've used stronger words than that in my head and they usually rhyme with "truck" or sound like "ship" if you say it just right.  Sorry.... truth.

So, what does all of this mean??

It means I am a serious golfer again.  Yup, I'm a serious golfer again and I love it.  And I hate it. Hmmm, pretty confusing and confounding, huh??

Yes and I'm gonna keep workin' on it.

How about you?

Let me know of your progress and challenges as you continue your 2016 Golf Season and I'll be back soon with further updates.

Thanks
