Can Zach win another major? ... and not become Dustin?

Picture
Yup, that's right; it's December 30th, 2016 and we at HisKingdom.golf are back at it; watching the PGA Tour and preparing for our personal 2017 golf performance.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year of course.

For we diehard golfers who watch as much of the PGA Tour and Golf Channel as we can, this is a rough down time for us.  "What should I focus upon?" we ask ourselves.  "Where can we get updated on the Tour, the Players, what are they working on?" and, most of all, unfortunately, "What's up with Tiger?"  So, we search and follow the Tweets of the Players and watch endless video lessons, but, it's not the same as the full-blown season to follow tournaments, etc.  We all know the season begins with the Masters in April, so, for each one of us, we're trying hard to see what's up.....

.... and we know what's up.  All we have to do is go to PGATour.com or the GolfChannel.com and we get a full dose of what's up.....

- What's happening with Tiger?

- What's Jordan working on?  Does he have a girlfriend?

- Is Rickie still single?  What happened to his girlfriend anyway? (Ok, you search for that one)

- Who will replace Finchem? (I know, you don't really care.)

- Can Dustin Johnson upgrade to Zach Johnson's personality and retain his killer game? (That would be cool)

- Can Zach win another major? ... and not become Dustin? (I laugh at myself sometimes)

- OK, enough....

so, let's look at our own preparation.

Picture
How do you intend to improve with your game in 2017?

Since you didn't answer, I'll answer ...

I had knee surgery (#3) November 21st and, last week began hitting wedges and putting, putting, putting (because I NEEDED it).  Started hitting the irons on Friday and driver on Sunday.  I am optomistic as I retained what I had worked on throughout the 2016 season.

Looks like the weather will be decent in Middle TN for the next couple of weeks, then headed to Phoenix, AZ for three weeks .... YES!!  Have more plans to travel to decent climates through April, so, the game oughta be in pretty good shape for .....

... competing this year.... (will review later)

I have signed up for iSwingStrong course, but, am a bit disappointed as the new course was to be released on December 25th.  Haven't seen it yet.

And, I signed up to the PGA Digital Golf Academy for $5 in order to have full access to their instructional videos.

All of this to focus on peak performance for 2017.

How about you?  What are you doing?

A Simple Family Christmas Letter

Merry Christmas to all of you.

We pray that you have a joyous New Year. We are so thankful for our lives.

We are still living in Murfreesboro TN along with Sharra Shotwell our oldest daughter, Taylor Brown, our middle daughter & McKenzie Witherspoon. Reilly, our youngest, is in the Denver area and our son Garren is currently living in Phoenix with his wife Robin. They live full-time in Killington, Vermont.

We have eight grandchildren with one on the way; Sharra has three, Calla 15, Grady 12  and McKenna 11. Taylor and Damien have two young boys, Easten, 2 and Hayes, almost 1 and are expecting a baby girl in February. Mackenzie & Ryan have Caizley who is 4 and Ryan has two children; Kate 6 and Addy 4 from a former marriage. Reilly and Mark Harrison live in Denver.

Anne & I are both semi-retired as we say. We both are done with full-time work however the number of hours that Anne works in her pediatric triage job, she might as well be working full-time. In fact, we have recently made two trips up to Cape Cod in order for Anne to help with her former pediatric doctor's office in Sandwich Mass. It  has been interesting and fun as we've been able to visit with my mother who still lives in Waltham. Unfortunately, my dad passed away two years ago. Anne still enjoys running in as many events as she can & I am working on my golf game as well as implementing www.HisKingdom.golf ministry.  You can follow the ministry activity by subscribing to the enews.HisKingdom.golf/*/ enews letter.

I've decided this year not to push our faith on you. You know that Jesus Christ is the center of our lives and, of course is the “Reason for the season of Christmas.”

Merry Christmas and a Happy and joyous New Year. We pray that we will see each other along the way and that you and your family are secure in your faith in God and are loving and caring for each other every moment of every day.

As Anne (annepoir@comcast.net) says; "If you're in Nashville, come on by for a visit!"

Promoting the Kingdom - 7 Days in Utopia - Bryson DeChambeau

We have been thankful to know many of those engaged in the world of golf with a passion for Jesus Christ.  Dr David Cook is one of those people and his 7 Days in Utopia ministry meet that criteria.

I received a direct email from Dr Cook this weekend regarding his efforts with Utopia and the attention gained by Bryson DeChambeau as he unveiled his new 'face on' putting style at the Franklin Templeton Shootout while paired with Lexi Thompson.

We had commented on the story in an online Golf magazine article regarding the new putting style and had likened it to Dr Cook's version as seen on his website.

Dr Cook further commented on the style below;

"Happening now:

Bryson DeChambeau plays Lucas Black's character from the movie, "Seven Days in Utopia," in real life.

I know there is a lot of commentary about Bryson's new putting method.  I introduced the "Face-On" method of putting back in 2006 with the book "Seven Days in Utopia."  I have written extensively about it in my newest book, "The Psychology of Tournament Golf" as well.  While he doesn't do exactly what I wrote and used in the movie it is definitely a close variation. I'm having a great time teaching it and speaking about it, but mostly using it.  I moved my right hand to the front of the club about two years ago as well.  Bryson is doing that as well.  He will do well.

The hardest part is the psychological part of going against tradition.  I spoke to that challenge in both books and the movie.

In fact, the climax of our movie was the moment that Lucas pulled out the face-on putter and had the courage to break with tradition.  Bryson played that part this week for real!

To read more about Face-On putting, see my instructional video, or check out our new Face-On putter visit Linksofutopia.com.  The putter is one of a kind... a show stopper."

We at www.HisKingdom.golf highly encourage you to visit Links of Utopia and review the information there as well as purchase Dr Cook's book, The Psychology of Tournament Golf.
