Wally Armstrong Commits to Assist Open Doors....

Incredible!!! I spoke with Wally Armstrong yesterday and he is totally committed to our efforts with the Open Doors for the Open.

Wally and I have a long history of very infrequent engagements and, we haven't really communicated since we met together at the PGA Show in January. At that time Wally gave his approval to use his newest booklet, "Just Walk Across the Green" and after reviewing it, I felt it was perfect to fill the need for guiding our "Brigade of Evangelists" in preparing to tell their story.

Well, Wally and I had a great conversation yesterday and after reviewing what we have accomplished so far, he agreed that he would participate and recommended the following as a contribution;

Village Chapel Green

1. He would make an effort to attend and, possibly, speak at one of our Speaker Series times. (see our calendar)

2. He would donate some "SNAG" golf equipment to provide a place on the Chapel green where we could provide a SNAG play area for kids and adults, therefore to learn the game, participate with the parents and, even, have a brief introduction to Jesus.

I am so thankful as these things continue to surface and add to the impact of Open Doors for the Open.

The Open Doors Wristband

Well, thanks to Jim Schneider we have our first order of 1,000 Open Doors wristbands for the Open outreach.

And you can see the way the band will look by just looking at the left hand margin of this blog post.

This is incredible!! Thank you, Jim, for doing that!!!

As we have been reviewing, a significant part of this outreach is the ability to communicate to folks and to have a recognizable presence at the Open and we agreed that the Open Doors wristband was the way to do that. The original idea was to be somewhat unobtrusive, yet, kinda cool looking so that it may draw the interest of folks at the Open. You know, when you attend an event that you want to take away a trinket of some type, you look for something unique and kinda cool and, especially, inexpensive, so that you can remember the event and wear it for awhile to have others ask; "Hey, where'd you get that cool wristband?"

But, the real reason to have the wristband visible is to create a conversation with someone and to inform them of the reason that you have the Open Doors wristband on in the first place; "I am wearing this wristband because it represents the Village Chapel activities that are being conducted during the two Open weeks. You can go on by the Chapel anytime you'd like while you are here to rest and relax, watch a little bit of the Open on the TV, have a water or whatever and, even, get introduced to some new folks. I, personally, am wearing it because, ........... tell your story ..............".

Then the idea is to take the Open Doors wristband off and hand it to the person one is speaking with.

Morning Devotional Reflections

Village Chapel Cottage

Reflecting on what happened this weekend with a fulfillment of the desire to carry out "Open Doors for the Open", I think about how God has led us to this point.

His word is what it is all about!

As I was doing my devotional this morning I began to feel that taking time in His Word was, possibly, using my time ineffectively, that I could probably be working on the tasks and specifics and details about the conduct of the Open Doors event, but as I reflected more deeply on it and was doing a study related to a men's group that I'm involved in, the words of the following Psalm were a reminder of what it is that we are all about. It is His Word. It is devotion to Him. It is focus upon His will and calling upon His Spirit and His strength and His enabling to be able to accomplish whatever it is He wants to accomplish. So, in this regard I dedicate myself to you, Lord. Please, You accomplish Your will in Jesus Christ. Amen.
