Stacy Lewis continues her competitive excellence as she wins her first LPGA Tour tournament for 2014 @ the North Texas Open.

As you all know we have been highlighting Stacy and other professionals that we know are regular attendees to Bible studies on the Tours and profess a relationship with Jesus Christ.  We also are building up the buzz as we walk the path to the 2014 U.S. Open Championships that are being conducted in Pinehurst, NC this June.

So, our focus has been on Stacy as she has been the top American female golfer in the world and has maintained her position in the top 5 in the world since her last victory at the British Open last year.  This victory moves Stacy from #3 in the world to #2 and provides even more excitement for us and the world of golf as we head into the season's majors.

Stacy capped off an incredible performance yesterday as she pulled away from the field and showed her competitive spirit and excellent play when she drained the final 20 or so foot putt on the last hole.  This type of golf requires incredible focus, drive and inner confidence; all the things the great players exhibit as they perfect their craft and give testimony to the greatness that indwells mature Believers in Jesus Christ.

Let's continue to pray for all the competitors on all Tours that they would continue to grow to excellence in their profession and that they would all focus on their faith and growth in the knowledge of God.

The Stacy Lewis vs Lydia Ko matchup is exactly the type of story Open Doors for the Open was hoping to be able to highlight as the time gets closer to the U.S. Open at Pinehurst in June.

The drama that has been played out the last few weeks on the LPGA Tour with great story lines and dramatic come-from-behind finishes as well as the recent firestorm created by the Sports Illustrated golf article about women in golf featuring a model engaged to a PGA Tour player versus successful competitive professional women golfers who should be the focus of media attention.  Now, it's being played out on the golf course as it well should be.

The perspective of Open Doors is focused upon Stacy Lewis who we have been following, praying to get to know and feature during our Open Doors for the Open and desiring a faith-based story line heading into the Open.

As we've featured before, Stacey Lewis is not just a wonderful player and ranked 3rd best in the world right now, current British Open Champion and short-lived #1 player at the end of last season, no, Stacey Lewis is a model woman and Believer in Jesus Christ exemplifying true faith in action on the LPGA Tour and world stage as a golf celebrity.

We are happy to highlight the great golf and the drama that is being played out on the Tour leading up to this historic event coming up in June in Pinehurst, but, we desire the opportunity to highlight the lives of the women and men of faith in Christ as they trek toward the event.  We hope we will continue to see the Christian character of these players on the world stage similar to what we saw in an obviously mature performance and demeanor exhibited by, now, two-time Masters Champion, Bubba Watson earlier this month.

The final round of the Swinging Skirts Classic in Lake Merced will make the LPGA Tour happy to see such drama playing out before a world-wide TV audience, but we will be happy to see the continued professional excellence of these ladies and the opportunity for Christ to be honored by the next champion regardless of who wins.

Stacy Lewis interview at the HSBC Women's Championships in February.

We have been highlighting our Christian golfers and Stacy Lewis, again, has appeared in a nice video in the preparation for the tournament she won last year.  What I like about this video is that Stacy talks about how she was not necessarily comfortable in front of the microphone, but has worked to become more professional in that role as a professional golfer and champion.

She also talks about the role of her father as a coach and caddy during her early days in college and on the professional circuit.  It's so nice to see our Sister in Christ handle herself so well, cordial and professional.

Stacy Lewis, top American Golfer and third in Rolex Ranking.

As we continue to feature players that will be competing at the U.S. Open in Pinehurst this year, we come to Number 3 in the Rolex Ranking in women's golf, Stacy Lewis!!  Number 3 in the world, my friends, and the top American player out of the rankings.

Stacy has just come off a great showing at the Kraft Nabisco Championship where she finished third.  I, personally, was incredibly impressed with Stacy last year when she came back during the final round of the British Open Championship at the Old Course in Scotland.  This woman is one of the best, in my book!

Stacy went to the University of Arkansas where she became a standout after her back was healed.. We, probably, all know the story of wearing a back brace for so many years and in her own words, how golf was one of her only outlets while suffering from scoliosis. There's a great story about her college days here.

Again, what we're mostly interested in is the faith of our featured players and Stacy has shown herself to be a woman of faith in Jesus Christ.  Press accounts identify her as a regular attendee at the Women's Bible Study on Tour and she had an incredibly impactul trip with Betsy King a few years ago to Africa where she discovered a call on her life to support orphans in areas of South Africa.

We are pleased to highlight Stacy and pray we might visit with her before, during and after the U.S. Open in Pinehurst, NC for updates.
