Kingdom.golf - What is it and how to get there? Video

Can we build a website and social media service that takes the platform of golf and builds an evangelistic and discipleship oriented tool? Can we?

We know that the game of golf is a microcosm of real life.

We've all seen and heard of it, in fact, Plato is given credit for the following quote; "You can learn more about a man in an hour of play than a lifetime of conversation."  or, as Mark McCormack, the former President of International Management Group (IMG) which launched Arnold Palmer onto the world stage, said "You can learn more about a person in four hours of golf than you can in six months of lunches".  This is true... we know it!!

So, how do we take our passion for golf and our love for Jesus Christ and build tools to introduce golfers to Christ?  A tool that can professionally engage golfers, both Believers in Christ and un-Believers in Christ and engage them both with compelling content in order to challenge the un-Believer to learn more about Him and inspire the Believer to use their passion for golf to expand God's Kingdom.

The question is out there; how do we do it?  Can you help with any ideas?

We do have some thoughts; build a website that has a professional appeal which has a video telling the story of a golfer who's "golf was their god", just like we have heard Tom Lehman many times when he tells his life story.  We envision navigation tabs on the site similar to;
  • "Video interviews of PGA Tour Players who follow Christ",
  • "What is a Christ follower?",
  • "How do I introduce my 'pahdna' to Jesus?",
  • "How do I join up with other golfing Christ followers?", and
  • "What events might I participate in?"

Not sure if this is compelling enough.  Of course, we would have graphics and videos and connections to all the ministries and individuals involved in the Great Commission through the platform of golf, but, we would like this to be a cooperative design product.

Please help us with your thoughts and comments.

Thanks

Browsing for Content - Kingdom.golf - Ben Crane & Sports Spectrum

This is a great video of Ben Crane of the PGA Tour and a leader, in my opinion, in the Tour Christian Fellowship.

I am in the process of formulating what Kingdom.golf will look like this coming year and have been searching and evaluating online content from many sources.  The video above was taken by Sports Spectrum magazine and posted on their YouTube Channel. Great stuff!!

I have found many other video and content sources for use in our online content marketing "magazine" for lack of a better term and hope to produce a daily online content program that can draw visitors to our Kingdom.golf website and join in on the conversation.

Sorry to wet your whistle with little facts or content, but, thanks for coming and we'll continue to grow and inform.

Thanks for visiting.

Billy Horschel Visits Titleist Golf Ball Plant - I Travel to New England

As we all know, as of the past two or three weeks, Billy Horschel is "THE MAN"!

So, let's continue to focus on Billy.  I loved this visit to the Titleist factory because we all wish we could get this kind of treatment at Titleist.  No sure I'd like my wife along or that she would want to go, lol.  (and, by the way, congratulations to the Horschel family on the birth of they're first child.

Additionally, today, I am traveling to New England and thought his Bedford, MA factory tour and my travel to New England had some connection.  Well, "I" thought it did...

Anyway, enjoy the video and keep focused on the Ryder Cup.  I was able to watch the 1999 Ryder Cup on the Golf Channel last night and it was, once again .... AWESOME!  Yup, we all got quite rowdy, but, who wouldn't as Justin Leonard said, "I probably couldn't have controlled myself anyway."  It was bitter for the Euro's, but, what the heck.  Hmmm, hey, that was in New England, too!  There is a connection.  Thanks, Father!!

One last tidbit; I'm headed to Vermont to visit with my "scratch" son, Garren Poirier and his wife, Robin in Killington,. We were gonna go to Rutland CC where he is the reigning club champion and play a round in the AM, umm, about 9 AM.  Forecast - 30 degrees and slight chance of rain.  I DON'T THINK SO!!!!

Have a great day and play golf if it's above 50 degrees... lol.

It certainly came out the way most believed or hoped it would; Billy Horschel winning it all.

He was 'rock-solid' for the last two+ weeks and he deserved to win it all.  That's alot a cash; $14 Million, alot a cash!

I personally observed how he rocketed into confidence over the past month and the comeback from that "chubby" shot on 18 at the Deutsche Bank shows amazing resiliency and mental toughness.  As Johnny Miller said at the presentation ceremony last  night; "He's the real deal."  I believe with Johnny that he could be a star over the next 4 or 5 years barring injury.

Anyway, it was a joy to watch the last few weeks how the drama unfolded and the quality of golf and competition was incredible.  I really enjoyed watching.  But, now we have a week plus to get ready for the Ryder Cup.  Interesting how some of the pundits are questioning whether the hottest players on the US Tour may have been left out of the mix, but, the steady and an uber-competitive Europeans have a stacked deck to, possibly, trounce the Americans.  We'll see won't we.

Being the Christian golf guy, I think I heard Billy say, "amen" when addressed at the interview.  That's a term that can be used loosely these days, but, I'm pretty sure I heard it.  A quick search of the Internet found no references to Billy's faith.  So, whatever.

No judgement, just an observation.  I sure enjoy watching him play golf.

Here's a great video highlighting Billy's workout regimen.  Whew!!!

TOUR Championship - After Round 3, We're in for a Barn Burner

The "PERFECT" end to the TOUR Championship!!  Rory McIlroy, World #1 and Billy Horschel, the hottest player on the planet facing off on the last day during the last event and all the FEDEX goodies up for grabs.

But, will Billy wilt like Mickelson a few weeks ago or will Rory stumble and Billy take advantage with some gutsy play and inner character yet unrevealed?  It will be wonderful to watch.... let's do this!!

But, some subplots also exist....Furyk is just 2 back, Fowler 3 back and, what's this? Rose has creeped into the mix being just three back as well.  Wow, talk about subplots.... "Can the old man (Furyk) give it one last go?"  "Can (lovable) Fowler make enough putts to overcome the leaders?"  Can Rose (the sweetheart) use his experience to overcome the best in the world?"

Let's all watch and see... today.... go get 'em boys!!

Thought this overflight was worth placing here again... enjoy!

2014 TOUR Championship Update; Day 2

9/12/2014

The TOUR Championship has us all watching very closely.  Mixed feelings about the final event of the year, because, it sure has been a longish year.

Will Billy Horschel continue his stellar play and take it all?  I've been impressed with Billy all year as I have with one of my favorites, Rickie Fowler, but they both have the same negative that keeps them out of the winners circle, especially in Rickie's case as he has been so good in all the majors this year... but, you've got it... critical putting prowess at crucial times during a tournament.  Looks like Billy has peaked just in time and there's a great chance he'll "take it to the house!".  But, I am pulling for Rickie this weekend even though he's 5 shots behind after today.

The rest of the leader board is amazing; Rory shooting 65 to be tied for second with Jason Day and Chris Kirk.  Rory, in my opinion, deserves to be in the hunt in this event considering what a great year he's had (that was a bit odd how his quality of play dipped for a few weeks).  But, Chris Kirk (-6), my gosh where'd he come from?  Good for him.  What a blast, eh?  You've got Jim Furyk (-6)within striking distance and Ryan Palmer (-4) as well, but, neither of them has been able to close-the-deal over the past many weeks.

Well, just like the rest of the year, this is gonna be a great finish on the weekend.  We'll try and keep up with the action in this new format.

Wait a minute, longish year?  We've got the Ryder Cup this year!  Never mind.  lol.

Here's the video interview of Billy following today's round.
