kingdom.golf at the Masters - Day 1 and 2

As most golfers know, there's nothing like the Masters!  This is true from so many perspectives; the time of year, the beginning of the golf season, the azaleas and dogwoods, Augusta, GA and the deep history and tradition of the Masters Tournament; on the grounds, out in the community and the golf, the promotion, the broadcasting, the aura of, again, THE MASTERS.

As those of you know that have been following Kingdom.golf, we have prepared and promoted and texted, tweeted, LinkedIn'ed, Facebook'ed and emailed what we are and what we are doing here in Augusta; propagating the Gospel of Jesus Christ and engaging with ministries and individuals that are attending this great event as well as living in the community.

Day 1 - Monday, April 6th. Traveled from Murfreesboro, TN to Thompson, GA about 32 miles from Augusta National.  Checked into my 'fleebag' (sorry) hotel and continued to Augusta to get a lay of the land, so to say.  Was amazed at the number of Badge hockers in the area, several per street block as well as the Latter Days Saints presence surrounding the property, literally several groups with literature on every block from Rte 20 @ Washington Road all the way past the course.  This must be at least 3 miles worth.  Returned to my hotel and prepared text messaging for that day and into the next day.

Day 2 - Tuesday, April 7th. Everyone wants to get on the grounds of the Masters, right?  Well, that was my desire as well, but, I was not going to force the issue, because I was here to fulfill what the Lord has put in my heart in reaching out here at the Masters, not walking around and watching golf. Nonetheless, my prayer was; "Lord, if someone could hand me a ticket, if only for an afternoon, that would be wonderful.  Please let that happen.

Today is the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) prayer breakfast at Warren Baptist Church.  This event is said to be over 25 years old and probably is.  Bobby Clampett and our "The Players Outreach Ministry" (TPOM) assisted, coordinated the event back in 1995 - 1997 when Bobby, Larry Mize and Bernhard Langer spoke.  The event is now a fundraising event for the Greater Augusta FCA led by Greg Wilson, his Board and helpers from Warren Baptist.  Huge event, there were probably over 1,000 people there to fellowship, share a meal and listen to the great work accomplished this FCA and the impact on the young people in the community.  Wayne Player, son of Gary Player, was the final speaker and he shared his energetic style relaying many of his life experiences as the son of a Hall of Famer who has had his hand at professional golf, but, found his calling in health and fitness promotion and inspirational speaking.  I interviewed him following the event and will post that interview in a separate Video Log or VLOG in the next day or so.  I joined with Addison Cash of Augusta who was referred to me by Bill Adams of Sports Fan Outreach International (SFOI) who assisted in handing out the Pocket New Testaments and referral cards for The Mulligan Magazine subscriptions.

Following the Wayne Player interview, I drove around the Augusta National property again to determine where I would set up to hand out materials and engage with the "Patrons".  There were all kinds of folks surrounding the property, but, I chose an area right south of the intersection of Washington Road and Berckman's Road just about three blocks from the main entrance to the course on Berckman's.

This, of course, is Day 2 of the practice rounds so many people have day tickets and are running around trying to buy or sell 'em.  It's pretty bizarre.  I stood on the corner for about 3 hours and was very quiet as I figured out what was going on and how to reach out to folks with the literature, but, definitely not be rude of intrusive.  I learned alot that day and became quite friendly with those around me.  I packed up and headed back to the hotel later in the afternoon as it was quite hot and poured rain for about an hour.  Back at the hotel I continued my social media and writing of text updates.
