Why, Mr Bill, (I like the way Southerners say that) are you deluging us with this Gospel stuff? Isn't that something that should be left in the church or in the home? Why are you touting all this Christian stuff?
I'm glad you asked. I was just having a conversation with my wife about the same thing.
I have this incredible PASSION for the game of golf. I don't know why it is, but, it is and I know there are a heck of alot of others of you who have the same passion. I believe I've discovered WHY I have this passion and I will get to that in a bit.
But I have this incredible LOVE for Jesus Christ. I remember when it started back in 1981 and, how, over the years, it out-shined the passion I had for the game of golf. Yeah, out-shined, became more important than, etc. In 1989 I was in the Army still and praying to God that He would make it clear to me about joining golf together with my faith; "Could there be a way to join them, Father?" It's an incredibly long story, but, He did, and He is. That's what giving the Gospel thru golf (GtGtG) is all about.
Verses in the Bible roll around in my brain. As I was writing the above paragraph, a verse similar to this; seek me with all that you have and I will give you the desires of your heart and ... a man makes plans in his heart, but, fulfillment comes from the Lord. To be honest, I couldn't locate them, but, I did locate this one; “And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever." 1 Chronicles 28:9
Is that what was going on between 1981 and now? Was God placing the passion for golf in my heart on purpose in order for Him to use that passion for His purposes? I believe that's true. I believe He uses our passions, our desires and places our love for Him in our hearts so that He will be honored and glorified by our lives as we live them out in the area of our passions. For me that's golf.
If for you, that's, also, golf, let's continue to live our lives in golf for Him and for His glory. Merry Christmas.
In Him
Bill
